We're back in 2026 with some of the best shooting in the Des Moines Metro. Join us for food, friends, and fun.
All shooters are welcome, no matter your skill or your experience.
Throughout the Summer & Fall we will be running fun and competitive leagues.
All are welcome to sign up, and you'll definitely want to get your registration in as soon as possible. We offer limited slots for teams and individuals.
Ikes Members and Current League members are always our priority.
You can join the Ankeny Ikes here!
We offer the best fun trap league in the metro, singles, handicap, and the occasional doubles round.
We have a variety of special games we offer throughout the season, Annie Oakley, 5-Stand, Rabbit and Covey, and our own 28-yard handicap (yes you read that).
We might be crazy enough to even shoot handicap doubles, wobble or the infamous lucky draw!
Test your skills on ghost night, the great Melon shootout, the Halloween Ghost Target shoot and our famous soup and spuds cook-off.
Come for the shooting but stay for the food. You will not be disappointed. Every week we do something a little different.
For 26' we'll be back with some fantastic evening fare. In the past we've done everything from Steak, Italian Beef, Walking Tacos. We've even done Fancy Popsicles, Ice Cream and Root beer floats.
We will also have several community events including a chili cookoff and we're planning on cooking the whole hog this year!

If you can’t commit, come on Tuesday nights and shoot open trap, we totally understand. Plan to be here if you’re doing this, work obligations, etc… we get it, still the idea is to be present! Past attendance is taken into consideration during registration and squadding.
Registration is not confirmed until payment is received, you are squadded and you have attended orientation. We will attempt to squad you according to preference and we attempt to maintain competitive balance and fun teams.
We try some new things every year, some things work, some things don’t… this is what makes this fun. Don’t be surprised if you see something new, different or a little bit funny.
The league has a no jerks policy, competition is friendly. Any concerns will be resolved at the sole discretion of the trap committee.
Eye protection and hearing protection are mandatory. Be sure and bring a shooting bag or vest, a shell catcher is recommended.
The Ankeny Ikes reserves the right to ask you to leave the field for any reason if there are safety concerns.
Squadding is split between an early and a late. We try and accommodate schedules as best we can for each team. This should allow everyone to spend at most an hour on the range rather than all night. Be aware that we can’t make everybody happy but we’ll sure try.
Especially during orientation and week one we’ll probably run a bit slower, plan on things taking a little longer than usual.
We do strongly encourage you to stick around for our special events (sorry early squads).
In 2025 we'll be working on automated scorekeeping and event tracking, this has been an ongoing effort.
Every week we will assign an early squad and late squad as volunteers to help load houses and clean up. Volunteering is mandatory and not optional, additional details provided during orientation.
This is a strictly volunteer organization and there is a ton of work that happens every week, this league doesn’t work if you don’t pitch in. If something needs doing the expectation is you’re the guy who’ll do it. We will provide training during orientation to anyone who needs it.
If you want to be more involved and/or help out more let us know and we’ll find a spot for you.
We will shoot in all weather, if we see lightning all shooting will stop immediately. We will do the best we can to provide notice in case of severe weather.
